Week 4 Blog

Chapter 5 “RSS: The new Killer App for Educators
I had never heard of a RSS feed or knew what it meant until I started this class. But I know now that RSS mean Really Simple Syndication and I can see now why it is called that because it was very easy to set up an RSS feed. Richardson talk about how RSS  is a technology that teachers should teach their student to use. I did find that the RSS application was very interesting once I figure out how to us it. I do see where the RSS feed does have a lot of helpful information that teacher could use in the classroom and there are a lot of article  that can help the teacher stay inform of what is happening in the education field. Because of the RSS feed you do not have visit other site to get information, now the information can come to you. The RSS feed make writing a research paper easy because it will bring the information to you. RSS feed is a good site for teacher to use because the information on the site if update often so the student will be able to the most recent information.

Chapter 8 Podcasting, Video and Screencasting and Live Streaming: Multimedia Publishing for the Masses
After reading the chapter on Podcast, I learn that podcast is when people talking about something that interest them and putting music to their thoughts. Podcasting in a easy way for people to voice their opinion. Once you subscribe to podcast it is similar to weblog because you can subscribe to other people podcast. I do not think that I will be a fan of podcasting for student without some kind of rules  an regulation put in place as to what they can podcast about, because if nothing is put in place the student will be able to talk about anything or anybody and that could become a problem for teacher. While read this chapter I discover that I have podcast app on my Iphone.

  1. I had never heard of RSS feeds either, prior to starting my masters at CMU. I have since found out that they are pretty cool for both personal and professional use. I am pretty excited to share them with my students in the future.
