In the article “Teachers
participate in the workshop at Harwell” it talks about the workshop that
focused on how satellite can be us in the classroom. The teachers that attend
receive hand on experience in the workshop. One experiment used an infrared thermometer
to measure the ocean temperature from orbit. The teachers learn that with the
use of satellite navigation device they can be able to tell how a person has
waited for a bus. And that satellite can help to improve the safety of the
land, air transportation and can also help to protect the environment. Emmanuel
Ramos, Senior Advisor for the Directorate
of Telecommunications & Integrated Applications, state that “Space
is a most exciting topic and that by using space when teaching can help
convince young people to pursue their studies in science and engineering,
preparing the next generation of skilled labour for our society”. Because of
this workshop on satellite it will help the teacher to be able to prepare their
student for the future.
